Now it's time to get RECOGNIZED.
On April 27th 2023, we successfully voted to unionize (with a 98% majority!) It was a stellar victory! Clearly, the UMassD grad workers mean business.
These numbers also show how badly mistreated the UMassD grad workers are. Making less than 10% of a living wage is brutal. It is time to change this nightmare.
WE DESERVE BETTER.
Our next step is to secure a strong first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the University of Massachusetts, a legally-binding and enforceable document regarding our pay, hours worked, and other aspects of our employment at the university. Our CBA Team's negotiation priorities are shaped entirely and exclusively by the graduate student employees at UMassD.
Our first bargaining session with the university was on November 15th, 2023 and we've had 8 bargaining sessions throughout this past year. Our draft proposal is 75 pages long! We jointly agreed to mediation with the university on November 4th, 2024. For bargaining details, see our Negotiations page.
